Leave No Trace
I was at ICNA over the weekend and found a pile of books in front of the Education Building with a note attached, inviting people to take what they wanted. While I applaud the community spirit behind the gesture, I do want to remind everyone of the ethos that ICNA embraces with respect to our interactions while we are visiting: "Take Only Pictures. Leave Only Footprints." Apparently this is at least the third time that books were simply left at Ivy Creek. I did rescue these before the windy rains ruined them and they are on their way to my local thrift store. But I don't need the extra errands and books are better shared in other ways. There are so many wonderful and appropriate ways to share books with others: Little Free Libraries, donations to a charitable thrift store, the JMRL Book Sale to name just a few. Please take advantage of these!
