Juneteenth Farm Tour

Aerial of River View Farm 1978

Join our volunteer guides on June 19, 2022, to celebrate Juneteenth and learn the history of Historic River View Farm.  Once a farm owned by Hugh Carr, a formerly enslaved man, the farm now represents a family and their story to rise up from the bondage of slavery and create a new and better life for future generations.  This story explores African American life through Reconstruction and Jim Crow.  It illustrates the hard work of two generations and how they were able to rise and become leaders of their community.  Join us at 11:00 am at the kiosk to learn about their struggles and successes.  This event is free and open to the public but space is limited, so please preregister here. For more information, email Susie Farmer at susie@ivycreekfoundation.org.
