Annual Meeting and Ivy Talk

Barn in 1979

IT'S TIME FOR OUR ANNUAL MEETING!

Did you know that 2019 marks the 40th anniversary of Ivy Creek Foundation and the creation of Ivy Creek Natural Area?

PLEASE JOIN US for our Annual Meeting and an Ivy Talk about the founding of this very special wildlife protection area.

MEET OUR NEW STAFF
Rochelle Garwood, Director of Operations • Catherine Boston, Director of Education

The Board of Directors will hold a brief, required business session, to be followed by Dede Smith's presentation. Anniversary cake and refreshments will follow, with visits to the Barn available afterward.

IVY TALK
Dede Smith will discuss the unlikely result of one woman's dream to save a beloved landscape from development, which fueled a movement to protect the River View Farm homestead as a natural oasis in a growing county. Come learn more about the movers and shakers of the 1970s who made Ivy Creek Natural Area a reality, and what we've learned since about the value of conservation and preservation.

A WORD ABOUT OUR SPEAKER
Dede Smith served as the Director of Ivy Creek Foundation from 1993 through 2007, and during her tenure the Education Center was built and outreach educational programs were expanded. Maintaining her important connection with Ivy Creek, she continues to expand her extensive historical and genealogical research into the history of the property and the Carr, Greer and collateral families, sharing her knowledge with the family, the Farmhouse Study Group, the foundation and the public through presentations. And Dede is still a school guide!

Seating is limited, so come early as there is no standing room.
