Native Plant Society - Indigenous Ecology
Tony Russell
Enjoy a lecture by Jeff Kirwan on Indigenous Ecology and Cultural Landscapes, particularly on the Delmarva peninsula, and within the broader context of the southeastern U.S. He shares an overview of his findings on how indigenous peoples managed landscapes and how trees reveal the footprint of that management even today. Jeff is a member of the Nause-Waiwash Band of Indians on his native Eastern Shore of Maryland, and is the former 4-H Extension Agent for Albemarle County. Meet in the Education Building. Free and open to the public.
