Mary Carr Greer was born on November 8th, 1884, 142 years ago. Raised on Historic River View Farm, she went on to become a civic and educational leader in our community. On this guided tour of her farm and home, you will hear her remarkable story while exploring the legacy of her family and community. With a special focus on Mary Carr Greer’s dedication to civic engagement, African American education, and gardening, visitors will see Ivy Creek’s history in a new light. Come along on November 8th at 3:00 PM to see a site recognized on the Virginia Landmark Registry of the Virginia Department of Historic Resources, the National Register of Historic Places, the Reconstruction Era National Historic Network, and the African American Civil Rights Network.
