Project Learning Tree Training
Project Learning Tree (PLT) is a time-tested, standards-aligned set of activities and resources to engage children in learning about the environment through the lens of trees and forests. They are flexible, fun; easy to integrate into existing curriculum. Educators report that the hands-on, multidisciplinary activities that incorporate STEM, language arts, and social studies are engaging and encourage collaborative, inquiry-based learning. PLT materials are available for young children ages 1-6 and for students K-12. A six-hour workshop runs from 9 AM to 4 PM and may include a tour of the host site as these are typically excellent venues for field trips and other outdoor experiences. There is a 30-minute lunch break that is a brown bag bring your own. Participants learn more about Project Learning Tree, then facilitators demonstrate a variety of activities from the resources that participants receive. After a workshop, educators are more confident and empowered to use the activities with students because they have experienced them. There is an $11.00 fee associated with this training.
