This Week at Ivy Creek

The Junior Naturalist Program includes activities for age groups 5 to 8 and 9 to 12. Dan Bieker as always leads the younger group with much able assistance from his team of volunteers. The younger group will explore the fields, forests and streams of the Ivy Creek Natural Area while learning about the native plants and wildlife of our area (including snakes, spiders and bats!). Steve Pullinger and Deborah Andersen will guide the older group in regular hikes with creek study; wildlife and habitat exploration; an introduction to primitive skills such as shelters and water / food sourcing and nature-based art and service projects. All activities will be conducted outdoors unless severe weather moves us inside for hands-on workshop activities. Everything starts January 23rd at 4:00 pm at the Education Building.

Volunteer Guide Training
Become a volunteer guide! Learn the trails and how to share your knowledge and love of nature with groups. Topics covered include mammals, reptiles, amphibians, trees, plants, birds, and the history of River View Farm. Meet Tuesday mornings until May 9. Free and open to all.

Volunteer Work Day
Join volunteers to work on field restoration, invasive plant removal, or various trail improvements such as water bar repairs and trail widening. Wear outdoor work clothes and close-toed shoes/boots. Meet in the parking lot.
