wild ginger leaf

Virginia Heartleaf (or Evergreen Wild Ginger), Hexastylis virginica (or Asarum virginicum). The leaves are smooth and about 3 inches long.

Family Aristolochiaceae

Look for wild ginger in wooded areas at Ivy Creek. Since the flowers occur at ground level, you may have to look closely for it and possibly move dead leaves or pine needles to find it.
