Arrow Arum flower

The flower, a green spathe, blooms around June.

Family Araceae, Peltandra virginica

The shiny green arrow-shaped leaves of this aquatic plant, which grow one to two feet long, give rise to its common name. Arrow Arum is easily found at the Ivy Creek Natural Area in the Marsh, along Red Reservoir trail and at the waters’ edge of the Peninsula (trail map).
