Springtime is coming to Ivy Creek and Ragged Mountain

We’ll have a springtime full of native plants and flowers at the natural area soon enough.

In March, there will probably be bloodroot and trailing arbutus. Maybe there will still be hepatica blooms. There should also be some tree flowers. One particularly interesting one is hazelnut.

By April 21, Showy orchis and wild azalea may already be blooming along with wild geranium, rue anemone, fire pinks, may apple, star chickweed, etc.

By May 19, Jack-in-the-pulpit, maple leaf viburnum, heart-leaf ginger, violet wood sorrel, mountain laurel, false and true solomon’s seals, may apple in fruit, etc.
