Nature journalling and Botanical illustration:

Have you wanted to keep a yearly nature journal that documents your natural observations over the seasons? Come to the Education Building on May 5th at 2 pm.

In celebration of the 40th anniversary Ivy Creek Foundation is pleased to have Botanical artist and illustrator, Lara Call Gastinger share her practice and knowledge. In this exciting two hour session, she will discuss, demo and lead you in a short exercise on how to start your very own “perpetual” journal. Lara will first demonstrate indoors and then we will go outdoors and begin journalling.  Lara has been maintaining her journal for over 18 years! Bring a blank journal plus pen or pencil.

Lara Call Gastinger is the chief illustrator for the Flora of Virginia Project and a two time gold medalist at the Royal Horticultural Society Botanical Art Shows in London.   You can learn more about Lara and see examples of her awarding winning illustrations at laracallgastinger.com.
