World Water Day

World Water Day

"World Water Day is about focusing attention on the importance of water. The theme for World Water Day 2018 is ‘Nature for Water’ – exploring nature-based solutions to the water challenges we face in the 21st century.”

The Ivy Creek Foundation, Rivanna Conservation Alliance, Rivanna River Basin Commission and Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority are teaming up to provide a fun filled hike and educational opportunity. Come join us for a hike down to Martin’s Branch where we will investigate who lives in our streams and perform simple chemical tests to see how healthy the water is. From there we will climb back up for an overview of the South Fork of the Rivanna Reservoir. We will share ideas on what each of us can do to conserve and protect this precious resource.

The hike begins promptly at 2:00 pm. Meet at the kiosk and arrive a few minutes early. We will depart promptly at the start. The program should last 1 1/2 hours. Families are welcome.
