Bees and Beekeeping in Today’s World

Who, what, where, when and why? Area beekeepers, Karen and Ken Hall will provide an overview of the critical role of honeybees and beekeeping in our modern society. Touching on questions such as: why do honeybees swarm, are honeybees taking pollen and nectar that would otherwise go to native bees and will honeybees survive. They will look at what we can all do to enhance and protect this valuable resource.

Ken and Karen have been hobbyist beekeepers and members of Central Virginia Beekeepers Association since 1997 with a particular interest and emphasis in community outreach and education. Beekeepers, bee enthusiasts and anyone interested in learning about bees are all encouraged to come hear this valuable talk. Free. Come early to the Education Building as seating is limited.
