Ivy Talks: Seeing the Forest

White Oak

Robert Llewellyn

Robert Llewelyn, local professional photographer, has traveled the state of Virginia taking photographs.  He will present a slide presentation of work from his upcoming book, Seeing the Forest and his five other previously published nature books.  Many of the images will be familiar to Ivy Creek trail walkers.  His detailed images of trees, buds, flowers and leaves have gained critical acclaim.  In both his life and work, Mr. Llewelyn chooses to distinguish between "looking" which he considers passive and actively "seeing."  This philosophy, combined with his knowledge of engineering and contemporary technology result in intensely focused images.  Known for the clarity of his work, Mr. Llewelyn's photographs have been featured in major art exhibits and more that 30 books, including Seeing SeedsSeeing the Flowers, and Remarkable Trees of Virginia. He will take orders for his books after the talk.  Admission is free. Come early to the Education Building as seating is limited.
