Native Plant Walk

Horsemint

Mary Lee Epps

Saturday, September 16, 2017 | 9:00am - 11:00am

Phil Stokes will lead us to find late summer wildflowers: asters, goldenrods, and thoroughworts.  With luck we may also find the small, uncommon October lady's tresses orchid (Spiranthes ovalis) and horsemint (Monarda punctata), in flower.  We may also see the fruits of spicebush, persimmon, and jack-in-the-pulpit, along with various nuts and seeds.  Cosponsored by the Jefferson Chapter, Virginia Native Plant Society. Meet by the kiosk near the parking lot. Free!
